Placement is based on performance on the auditions held in May, as well as overall progress throughout the 2009-2010 school year.

If a student's name is not listed on one of the three rosters, then his or her name does not appear on our roll for next year. If you intend to be in band at Willow Wood in 2010-2011 and do not see your name listed here, e-mail Mr. Shaw at jamesshaw@tomballisd.net.

Any student not satisfied with his or her band placement may request to be re-evaluated during the first week of school in the fall.

2010 Summer Band Schedule for ALL 2010-2011 Willow Wood Band Members:

August 10-11 10:00-11:30 at WWJH Band Hall

August 12 10:00-12:00 at WWJH Band Hall

Summer Band Pool Party at the Lakewood Pool from 1:00 to 3:00 on August 12.

If you play a school-owned instrument (oboe, bassoon, tenor sax, bass clarinet, horn, euphonium, tuba), e-mail Mr. Shaw at jamesshaw@tomballisd.net or Ms. Vandergriff at debravandergriff@tomballisd.net to make arrangements to check out an instrument for the summer.

This is our top performing group by audition. The Honor Band participates in Region Band audtions, Solo and Ensemble competition, and gives several concerts throughout the year. This is an advanced class and is geared toward 7th and 8th graders who have achieved a playing level that is above average for their age and experience.

The Symphonic Band participates in many concerts and competitions throughout the school year. It is geared toward 7th and 8th graders who are playing at a proficiency level that is expected for their age and experience.

The Concert Band is a continuation of the beginning year. The group performs at a number of concerts and other special activities throughout the school year, often combined with the Symphonic and/or Honor Band.

This class is geared toward developing and improving individual playing skills.
